"THE" Ateneans - Repost and Commentary by... Someone else

And obviously a bit irked at the blue-blooded folk. But shouldn't it read: The "Ateneans" (since, intonation-wise, the sarcastic-emphasis should fall on the pronoun and not on the 'the')? O_o

Na-gets nyo ba? It took me a long while to formulate that sentence...

Anyway, here's an excerpt from his rant:
Wala itong kinalaman sa UAAP na kung saan "TIU"mamba ang Ateneo sa pagkapanalo sa Season 71 UAAP. Hindi sya tsamba. "THE" Ateneo is the better team this year. I was there kaya alam ko. And believe me, nakanganga ako habang pinapanod ko sila.

This is about "THE" Ateneans. Base from my experience.. "THE" Ateneans are snob. HAHA. "OK. SO?" or "OK. SO WHAT's THE POINT?" Owned ka dba? Barado to the NTH Level. Kaya minsan nakakatakot makipagusap sa mga "THE" Ateneans eh. Mababara ka lang.

FOR ME, Atenistas have their own little world na kung saan Sila sila lang ang nageenjoy and stuffs. Lasallites, Upinians, Thomasians and other schools are the "ONES WE DO NOT SPEAK OF" hahahahahaha! :)

I THINK, only "THE" Ateneo is not prone to holdap, rape, and other crimes. FEELING.

Oh well. iba talaga pag "THE" Atenean ka. Sila ang "Cream of the Crop,""The Untouchables," and so on. Wala ata akong kaibigan or schoolmate or classmate na nakapasa sa Ateneo. Kayo? Or ganon pa din? If hindi nagbago, Well Lucky you. LOL Just kidding. haha.
Now don't get me wrong. Some Ateneans may even actually agree with him... but to generalize is the same as jumping to a conclusion and the same as putting your foot in your mouth. Not all persons of a certain educational and socio-economic class are elitist, and not all elitists come from the same school. In fact, it has always been a common misconception that it's all heavenly shores inside the Loyola campus--you can be as easily discriminated inside the same school as you can be once outside it.

Besides... I make tusok-tusok da pishballs too you know. Hehehe.

  5. Ahehe I didn't mean to... pero kung ganon ang basa mo... that's so un-Atenean of me... lol.

Tama na nga... baka ako din masupalpal... =P

  6. Hahaha ang hirap maging on the outside pag nasa inside ka eh no? Pretty much the same thing for me back then... only difference was, marami kami on the outside. Lol

  11. Kanya-kanyang experience lang yan. True, there are Ateneans AND Lasallites who are snobbish. But wag naman i-generalize. I think people fail to see that a good number of Ateneo grads (especially from college) are from the provinces. Hello, that's why they're now building a condo where Cervini (and Eliazo ba?) used to be. Tama ba yung info na yun? Hehe! :)

  12. Maybe it's because it seems he believe that some kind of transformation does not happen in every Ateneo but only in THE Ateneo. He seems a bit obsessive with the college. I suppose HS Ateneans that defect to another university are exempt from his rant. ;P

Now, I totally disagree with what he said ... after all, how can Ateneo be the "Cream of the Crop" when I didn't go there??? BWAHAHAHAHA!

  13. obviously this person has a very limited exposure to people outside his own "little world" for him to judge a person based on their school. pathetic. kung sabagay, with that kind of attitude i would also snob him to non existence. teka nga pala, "what's his point" again? :)

  14. Dami defensive ah.... BWAHAHAHA!

  16. when people ask me where I went to HS, that's the second thing they ask. you know what, who cares what other people think of your school? i've learned to deal with all these preconceptions of what people from LaSalle, Ateneo, UP, UST, UA&P, PUP, San Beda etc etc are like. So what if they think we're conyo. People are prone to crazy talk and generalizations anyway. If they're too ignorant to get more detailed, that's their loss, not yours, not mine. Me, I just embrace it. There are pros and cons to the image. Work it!

me: "Anong paki mo? I'll bet carnapper ka noh."

There will always be extreme examples from every school who exhibit crass behavior, but it shows a lack of judgment (and implies some sense of insecurity) to make sweeping statements the way this guy does - esp. since it appears that he doesn't really know too many people from Ateneo personally. Some of the most practical, pragmatic, and down-to-earth people I know are long-time Ateneans. (defensive ba?) And there are folks across Katipunan in supposedly proletarian UP Diliman who would be hard-pressed to remember the last time they took public transportation. :) True enough, there were some rotten eggs who fit this stereotype but there were (and I'm sure there continue to be) many more decent people in Ateneo. However, I do somewhat agree with him in that the zealots and hooligans seem to be composed more often of folks who entered Ateneo just in college rather than the original old farts (like Jan and you ha3X...) from grade school and high school).

On being elitist. It's conventional wisdom that in general, it is tougher and more competitive to enter UP Diliman and Ateneo than La Salle, CSB or UA&P. I say generally because there are well-known exceptions - La Salle would have a more established and more competitive Comp Sci / Comp Eng program than either Ateneo or UP. CSB might provide a better fit for people inclined towards the arts and graphic design, etc. But in general, the Ateneo and UP entrance exams are tougher and more significantly, there are many more applicants which a prospective student-to-be has to beat at these schools in order to secure a place compared to other institutions. While folks shouldn't be smug and make similarly sweeping generalizations about this, we certainly have to give credit where credit is due. It is wrong to be elitist but it is also wrong to simply gloss over modest but still commendable academic achievements.

Kelan ba tayo magkaklase, Igs? if my memory serves me correctly, Prep to Grade 2? What seems like an eternity ago... An eternity and it seems mabibilang sa isang kamay ang finals appearances ng Ateneo since those days :P ha ha ha...

  19. Aye, everything looks different depending what side of the fence you're on. Many different fences too.

Speaking of stereotypes and little worlds? Try living in a country where a significant portion of the population will equate being Filipino with being either domestic help, a seaman, or an IT Engineer.

  20. haay... anywhere you go, regardless of the background, there are groups like the ones described here... all boils down to how high or how low your self esteem is. if you're an atenean, and you're "good" at it, then BE PROUD to claim it!

(i'm glad and damn proud my brothers are ateneans. it's a privilege! right, Iggy-babes? hehe.)

    inggit lang 'to.. :)

  21. Ano buzz. That person should meet me. Ako ang ultimate jologzzz to the max. I will probably shatter his perception, swear to guard! New people I meet don't believe that I'm from Ateneo AND (this is probably worse) Assumption (make tusok tusok!). See!!! And the thing is, there are a trillion other Ateneans like me. Tsk. He probably meets people from the conyo bench (see that's another misconception right there!).

Hahaha, I'll stop now, I'm not making any sense. My point is--that person is just being silly :)

  22. Hehe didn't mean to make him look bad. and it's all in good fun. Like I said as a reply to his post... "ang pagiging pikon matinding senyales ng pagiging bobo..." =P In fact, sobrang non stop ang tawa ko sa kakabasa ng comments ng blog nya. Hehehe.

Yun lang... teka magpapakamtay lang ako...
